Overview
To advance New York City's clean energy initiative, the NYC Transit Authority partnered with Solvix to develop a smart solar solution for a major urban transit hub. The goal was to reduce the transit station’s dependence on the city grid while promoting sustainability through smart energy use and integration with electric transport infrastructure.
Execution
Solvix engineered a custom solar system tailored to the operational needs of a high-traffic urban space, including:
- 500 kW Rooftop Solar Panel System – Installed across terminal roofs and adjacent structures.
- EV Charging Station Integration – Powered multiple electric bus and commuter vehicle charging points.
- Solar-Powered Lighting & Ticketing – Transitioned all exterior/interior lighting and ticketing systems to solar energy.
- Advanced Monitoring Dashboard – Enabled real-time performance analytics for system optimization.
- Compliance with City Safety & Zoning Regulations – Handled permits and coordinated with local departments.
Result
- 85% of Transit Operations now powered by solar.
- 1.2 Million kWh/year in energy savings.
- Significant Carbon Footprint Reduction in public transportation sector.
- Boosted Public Awareness of clean energy adoption in city infrastructure.
“Solvix delivered a seamless and scalable solar solution that’s now powering one of our busiest transit hubs. The energy savings and eco-benefits speak for themselves. Their team handled every step—from planning to execution—with deep professionalism.”
